A special sewing foot used to move multiple layers of fabric under the needle. This foot itself contains a set of feed dogs that work in combination with the feed dogs in the machine’s needle plate. The foot adds pressure from above and “walks” the fabric along in unison with the feed dogs below. Many high-end sewing machines have built-in fabric feeding systems.
