Our pretty little purse with its big, bold bow makes a dynamic fashion statement. And, the unique slip-through pleated band is a very clever way to clutch this clutch. Simply slide your hand behind the band and grab onto the bottom of the pouch to carry. It’s an exclusive pattern in our S4H Etsy Shop.
We used a sateen weight cotton with a strong horizontal motif for our sample, which we played up with a careful fussy cut across the front and within the pleated band. Sateen refers to the weave pattern of the cotton, using a one yarn under, three or four yarns over pattern. This gives it a slightly heavier feel than standard quilting cotton, a softer finish, and a bit of a sheen.
The finished look is perfect for an elegant evening bag, but this clutch would be just as fun as a casual bag. Change up the colors and fabric with neutrals for a classic look or brights for a free and easy vibe. Although we prefer the slightly heavier feel of sateen, you could certainly substitute standard quilting cotton without any construction drawbacks. Want even more elegance? Look for a sparkly zipper, like the silver metallic option we chose.

The second file is condensed to black and white with just the steps (no photos) to make printing even more efficient. Both files can be printed on either US Letter paper or A4 paper, using Adobe Acrobat Reader (a free program).
