You Asked 4 It! Our super popular Sewing is a Real Life Survival Skill emblem is currently available on the site as a free PDF template for use as an iron-transfer or hand embroidery template. In addition, you can find it in our Etsy Shop as a machine embroidery design download package for just $2.99. All good, right? But there were still many visitors who wanted it as a finished patch.

So that’s just what we did. It’s here now and waiting for you in the S4H Etsy Shop.

Designed as a Sew On patch – after all, we are celebrating sewing – it could also easily be used as iron-on by applying fusible seam tape or fusible web to the back.

The patches are just $5.99, which includes free shipping in the continental US. Click here to jump to the S4H Etsy Shop.

Our original design heralds YOU as a Maker: an important part of an important movement. There was a time when it was NECESSARY to know how to create things for yourself: to cook from scratch, repair rather than buy new, grow your own food, and – yes – to sew! These are what we call:  Real Life Survival Skills. Now is the time to remember, to re-learn, to reach out and teach others. Shout it from the rooftops, “I SEW. I’M READY.”

The patch measures approximately 3½”, excluding the unique pop-out thimble in the upper left. The high quality embroidery in teal, black, white, and silver is stitched onto a durable woven material. These rich colors and the interesting textures are immediately eye-catching and the lettering is sharp and distinct enough to read from a distance – important when you wear your skill on your sleeve!

Very stable yet still flexible, you can apply to a variety of surfaces and projects. Add one to a jacket, backpack, tote, sewing machine cover, caddy organizer, anywhere you want to show your sewing pride!

A Sewing Survival patch would be a great gift for yourself and all your sewing pals! Quantities are limited in this first run, so strike while the iron is hot… and the pins are sharp :-)!
