A guy's gotta carry stuff too, so doesn't he deserve a Must-Have Bag of his own?! The final bag in our series with Fabric.com is today's canvas bucket bag with its great slouchy style and tough construction details. It's a serious shoulder bag ready to head out into the elements. Load it up for a weekend adventure, use it as a holdall for your gym gear, or simply sling it over your shoulder for the trek into work each day. We were inspired by vintage rucksacks and European satchels to create a rugged design with strapping, topstitching and an interesting lining fabric that adds a bit of fun on the inside.
A relaxed style, subtle embroidered detailing, and rich ruffling add up to equal today's Must-Have Bohemian Bag. Mix and match four different quilting cottons to create vintage-inspired boho chic. We used four pretty prints from the Daydreams collection by Kate Spain for Moda Fabrics. We found all four colorways of Daydreams at Fabric.com. A bit o' batting adds just the right softness, and simple hand embroidery acts as the quilting, outlining some of the fabric's motifs in running stitches and accenting the centers of others with French knots. This bag is the perfect project to bring out your boho.
Current yet classic. Today's Must-Have Bag is a messenger style brief with good looks and smart functionality. The Premier Prints cotton duck fabric we chose at Fabric.com gives our bag a crisp, cool style that's right on trend for either guys or gals. We went with modern graphics, using an unexpected splash of bright tangerine on the flap. The bag would work equally well in solids or you could even turn your brief bucolic with a unique floral combo. With over 500,000 yards of fabric to choose from at Fabric.com, there's always something new to discover to make the project unique to you!
It's a week to get "carried away!" Fabric.com has joined us to sponsor five days of Must-Have Bags. We have something for every mood – from tailored elegance to urban chic. Today: a big, beautiful shopping tote. It's generous in both size and style thanks to the bold motif of the fabric. We chose a cotton duck from Premier Prints with a slub texture; this means it has intentional striations that give it an interesting knobbly look. A Feathers design in cool turquoise and slate caught our eyes. It has a strong, clean Southwestern vibe that we amplified with an embroidered, mosaic-type design across the top of the tote (front and back). You'll find both an embroidery design download as well as a printable template should you prefer to do hand embroidery or decorative stitching.
