Pull out your scrap stash for today's quick and easy project. Our Valentines mini gift bag set features burlap and ribbon accents and unique side ties. We added simple casings as our closure solution, and give you two looks for the ribbon ties. Cut your ribbon in half for matching petite side bows or thread a long length from front to back and make a single side bow... kind of like the 80s side pony - I loved the side pony. Cute burlap hearts add the perfect touch to say, "Handmade just for you, my Valentine."
We know you love fast and easy projects, and we also know Valentine's Day is creeping ever closer. But we also know this doesn't mean you want to skimp on cute or stylish! We have you covered with these sweet little sacks. First off, they use just tiny bits of fabric and ribbon, so other than a little bit of burlap, you're likely to already have everything you need on hand. If not, the amount of fabric and notions required is small – or buy in bulk and set up a gift bag assembly line for all your Valentines. The finished bags are as cute as the proverbial button with a rustic style that works for young and old... and in between.
Wrap up your favorite someone in this incredibly snuggly rag quilt with its special "secret admirer heart" appliquéd onto the bottom row. "What's a Rag Quilt?" We were hoping you'd ask! A rag quilt is sewn together so the seams show on the outside. After washing and drying, the seams begin gently fray or rag, producing a soft and cuddly look and feel. The more you wash and dry it, the fluffier the rag becomes. Our quilt is made from ten different Woolies Flannels by Maywood Studio in patterns and tones we thought were very guy-like and so qualified the quilt as a potential boyfriend/hubby/dad/son/uncle/grandpa Valentine's Day project. Truth be told... all the women we showed it to were ready to snap it up and take a little nap, so we think it's a perfect everybody project.
With triple the heart-stopping cuteness, our Valentine sachets hang three in a row on a ribbon with a ring at the top and a button weight at the bottom. Use them to add a bit of scented sweetness anywhere you want. One or more strings can be slipped onto a hanger. Or, add a bit of extra ribbon and tie the upper ring onto a doorknob or drawer pull. We used 5" x 10" Jolly Bar pre-cuts, which are the perfect size from which to cut two hearts. Jolly Bars are a pre-cut exclusive from Fat Quarter Shop.
Minky... it rhymes with pinky and is the softer, thicker cousin of fleece. When it first appeared on the market, Minky was the go-to option for the cushiest, cuddliest baby blankets ever. However, the rest of us soon realized babies shouldn't have all the fun, and Minky is now popular for any project that calls for a thick, plush feel with unparalleled warmth. That's exactly why we chose it for today's beautiful Valentine's throw, and we added a velvet binding to keep the extra softness going to very edge. There's also a secret corner pocket. Use it to stow a special card or tiny present when giving the throw as a gift. Once wrapped around its owner, the throw's pocket can keep the TV remote within reach or use it to stash a handful of tissues for a Valentine's Day rom-com movie marathon.
