Thursday, 02 November 2017 1:00

Every year, when the end of October rolls around and pumpkin spice is in the air everywhere, those of us in the sewing and quilting industry are in full-throttle QMM: Quilt Market Mode. It’s the biggest show of the year, and although there is a Festival component that is open to the public, it’s Quilt Market, the trade-only side of the coin, where the true wonders lie. Between hugging sewing friends we only get to see once a year, gasping at the beauty of the newest fabric collections, and trekking from booth to booth…. to booth, we managed to capture and bring back some sneak peek images just for you. As always, they’ll be even more treats to come as we unveil new sponsors, new projects, and new plans to keep Sew4Home clever, creative, and cutting edge.

Happy Labor Day from Sew4Home

Monday, 04 September 2017 1:00

It’s that usually very exciting and fun last-official-weekend-of-summer. But this year, we’ve found it hard to be in a full celebratory mood. Instead, we find ourselves concentrating on all the work that needs to be done to help the people devastated by Hurricane Harvey in Houston and the surrounding areas. The flood waters have begun to recede, but now the real work begins. We’ve searched through the news online and have come up with a short list of organizations who could use our help… your help… everyone’s help. #HoustonStrong.

An Interview with Designer, Margot Elena: TokyoMilk Presents Neptune and the Mermaid By Margot Elena for Coats

Tuesday, 20 June 2017 1:00

“Wait a minute,” I shout, pulling the phone away from my ear. “TokyoMilk? You mean like the hand cream I have sitting right here on my desk? That TokyoMilk? She’s doing a fabric collection for Coats? (sounds of screaming and phone dropping).” This is a reenactment of the excitement that ran through the Sew4Home studios when our pals at Coats told us about their latest designer collaboration with Margot Elena. Margot is the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Margot Elena Companies & Collections. She is the design and marketing mind behind several cult-classic, niche beauty brands, including TokyoMilk, Lollia, Library of Flowers, and her newest creation, The Cottage Greenhouse. To her long list of accomplishments, she now adds: Fabric Designer. Today, you'll get to meet Margot through our interview and find out a little bit about the inspiration behind her first collection, Neptune and the Mermaid. You’ll also learn a few of her personal secrets to color mixing and matching, and discover why Margot never designs and drives.
