Peppermint Lane Block of the Month from It’s Sew Emma: Book Review

Printer-friendly versionPDF version

Holiday DIY planning often starts early, such as the Christmas in July celebrations when new holiday fabric collections traditionally hit in-store and virtual shelves. But we know our Sew4Home visitors are super organized, with many of you having started your 2018 holiday sewing as soon as that last box of 2017 directions was stashed in the attic. For you, and anyone who is ready for a super cute novelty quilt, we’re excited to bring you a review of the Peppermint Lane Block of the Month book from It’s Sew Emma. Read on to find out more, and to enter to win your very own copy.

The Peppermint Lane sample quilt featured throughout the book uses the new Vintage Holiday collection by Bonnie & Camille for Moda Fabrics. You'll love their gorgeous, colorful collection – a B&C classic, which is scheduled to ship this month, so the timing is perfect to get started!

This step-by-step book contains eleven blocks plus the finishing details to pull it all together. The quilting experts at It’s Sew Emma do a fabulous job of walking you through all the piecing so you can go month-by-month, double-up or even triple-up the blocks to finish in time for December gift giving.

You can also follow the online block of the month quilt-along on Fat Quarter Shop, starting next month, May 2018. Sign up at FQS for the Peppermint Lane Block of the Month and backing set to join in on the fun.

The adorable blocks within the Peppermint Lane quilt include many favorite activities of the season, from hanging stockings to stringing lights to trimming the tree. All the illustrations are in full color and the accompanying photographs (some of which are featured here) are lovely and inspiring.

You also get a beautiful bonus quilt in the book! The North Star is a dramatic, repeating-block quilt with year-round appeal. The rainbow effect the It’s Sew Emma designers achieve with their color placement is particularly stunning.

You can order the the book directly from It’s Sew Emma, as well as through Amazonat just $19.95. That’s a steal, considering you get patterns for two quilts, and the featured quilt has eleven unique blocks!

In fact, those individual Peppermint Lane blocks are so adorable, you could even make them into smaller projects, such as runners, mats, or coasters.

It might be time to welcome Spring on the outside, but on the inside… get ready to crank up the holiday music and warm up the cocoa. It’s Peppermint Lane time!
