May 14th is Mother’s Day. In case you’re still searching for a special gift, we’re here to help with five ideas to say, “Thanks!” For not telling Dad who scratched the smiley face into the car’s bumper. For believing I was beautiful in my braces and unfortunate side pony tail. For picking me up when I fell, brushing me off, and telling me I could do anything. Yep; she’s a mother like no other. Sew up a little extra love for Mom on her special day. All the suggestions below are fast and easy. Plus, we’ve included a special set of Mother’s Day free printable gift tags.
Rainbow Zippered Pouches in Two Sizes
Keep Mom extra organized. These pretty pouches are designed to be the perfect size to drop into a larger bag or tote, but they’re almost too cute to hide! Long and slim with a full 12” opening, we combined a bold stripe with a pretty floral and topped them off with a striking rainbow zipper. Follow our design or create your own unique combination of fabric and hardware in Mom’s favorite colors.
Cuddly Seatbelt Pillow
How much time do you think your mom spent shuttling you from one activity to another as a child? Hours, days, months, years?! She has earned her right to be the passenger, and this soft seatbelt pillow is perfect for that new role. Our simple design features two adjustable overlapping tabs to attach the pillow to a seatbelt’s crosspiece. It slides up or down so Mom can adjust it for her comfort as she catches a well-deserved nap.
DIY Wedge Espadrilles
Mom always taught you to put your best foot forward. Return the favor with a pair of gorgeous sandals you’ve made yourself! Making shoes is easier and more fun than you might imagine. Dritz® has thought through all the hard stuff, like providing the soles and the best construction tools, and figuring out the patterns; leaving you the clever, creative part, such as stacking ribbon for the toe with a matching ribbon ankle strap.
Scrappy Patchwork Flour Sack Dish Towels
If one of your childhood chores was drying the dishes, this would be an appropriate gift – perhaps with a gift certificate for a day or two of deep cleaning around the house for Mom. This project debuted at the very end of 2016 and was an instant favorite. It’s colorful, simple, and a fun way to use up scraps or leftover pre-cuts. We assembled jelly roll strips into a panel to make the patchwork process extra easy.
The Sew4Home Bags and Totes Book
Did you get your crafty gene from Mom? Maybe she’d like her very own copy of our new book, Sew4Home Bags and Totes: 10 Easy, Fashionable Projects Anyone Can Sew. There are ten cool carryalls included, from clutches and shoulder bags to a pretty yoga mat sling and a vintage kid’s book bag. No paper patterns are required for any of the projects. If you choose this option, drop a note to firstname.lastname@example.org with your mother’s name and email and we’ll send her a personal note.

The designs print out on one 8½” x 11” sheet of paper from which you can cut the cards. You may want to print on a heavier card stock (80 to 100lb cover is a good option) or print on regular paper then glue that lighter weight sheet to a stiff backing material prior to cutting. Use the lines around each card to cut precisely.
