Spring officially begins in three days, conveying with it the anticipation of sunshine, flowers, baby birds, spotted fawns and lush green fields. I look out the window and see none of that. Spring has its work cut out for it. Seems like a good time to give spring a nudge with a field of enchantingly fresh prints guaranteed to bring a little ray of sun to your day.

Last month we showed all girlie fabrics in shades of Honeysuckle Pink, the Pantone Color of the Year. This month we found something for everyone: a retro cool collection from Birch Organic Fabrics, extreme prints for boys from Michael Miller Fabrics, a striking new collection from Ty Pennington, and cotton linen gorgeousness from Valori Wells.

I got my first peek at Amy Butler's newest collection, Soul Blossoms, in early May and have been drumming my fingers waiting for the day when I could get my hands on it. I've been dreaming of exotic billowy curtains for the master bedroom, an eclectic patchwork quilt for the bed where my two little kitties could snooze against a pile of throw pillows blooming in colorways of Bliss, Joy and Passion. Amy says she was influenced by her travels to India. "It's impossible to spend time in such a soulful place and not be inspired by the culture, rich colors, amazing textiles, and ornate architecture. I was instantly consumed by the heartbeat of everyday life and smitten with the beautiful way people expressed themselves. This collection is my interpretation of an enchanted, modern passage through the floral delights of India. Dreamy jewel toned prints in multi-hued flowers and designs - uplifting and passionate - weave together my ethnic inspired story."

Love That Fabric: November

I don't need the holiday season to love the combination of hues of red and green. It's a force of nature: red and green apples, peppers, flowering plants, trees, northern lights, parrots, tree frogs, warm and cool, stop and go, and all things Christmasy. This month our four collections work alone and together just as in nature. Have some mix and match fun with these.

Love That Fabric: For Big Guys & Little Guys

We've heard it again and again… it's tough to find appropriate fabric for guys; big guys AND little guys. So, this month we decided to go on a mission for guy fabric. As we looked around and tried to choose fabric, we realized that it totally depends on what you are sewing. If you're making pajama pants, the contemporary floral that would be acceptable on the curtains or even a duvet, is all wrong on guys. So, we looked for fabric that would work for guys' pajama pants. When you look at it that way… it actually is difficult to find fabric for guys. The majority of fabric is marketed to women; for women, girls, babies and home décor. In the end, we found a decent assortment of fabric by cherry picking collections for the more masculine or boyish prints. Take a look at some of our faves.

Love That Fabric: October

It's October and raining here in the Pacific Northwest. Even though it was sunny just two days ago, I already miss the warm dry weather! But, far from gloomy are our four charming collections featured this month. From farm animals, to mod flowers, to a leisurely weekend fabric; plus a new stunner that I have a crush on.

Love That Fabric: Halloween

Eeeek! Thinking about Halloween in August! But, when it comes to seasonal fabrics... you snooze, you lose. By the time October rolls around, the most bootiful and ghoulish fabrics mysteriously disappear off shelves in a puff of smoke only to be replaced with holiday fabric. If you like it, snag it now, and put it in the crypt until you're ready to sew your frightful creations.

This month's selection of fabrics is very summery, warm and luxurious. Right after Quilt Market, we see so many gorgeous new collections that narrowing our picks is not easy. It's a terrific time to look for lovely new fabrics like the ones we've chosen. These collections are either fresh in inventory at your favorite fabric shops or will be very soon. We're always interested to know what new fabrics are catching your eye.
