Dead center. Center of attention. Front and center. Being smack dab in the middle of the action is as important in sewing as it is in life. The new Omnigrip Centering Ruler from Omnigrid® makes finding your center point and measuring from it in either direction faster and easier.

To say life would be hard without pillows would be putting it mildly. Where else would we hide a tooth for the Tooth Fairy? What else would we hit each other with in a harmless fight? Beyond their practical function as a headrest when we sleep and a way to soften hard furniture when we sit, pillows can be a dramatic decorating accent and are among the easiest projects to sew. We have dozens of pillow projects for you to choose from right here at Sew4Home. For this article, we thought we'd pull together everything you need to know before launching into pillow making: a little history, the basic types, and what we recommend stuffing inside.
If you’re a Sew4Home regular, you know we brought you news of this great Janome Presser Foot series earlier this year. We're back with a review of the latest addendum, covering the Cover Pro Presser Feet. Many people rarely change out their presser foot, often because they’re just not sure what to do with that bag o’ extra feet that came with their machine! Is that you?! Janome has tackled this “excuse” with their Presser Foot Workbook series, which gives you a working knowledge of their most popular feet. Take a look at our overview, then visit your local Janome dealer for more information on how to build your own set. We say “build” your own set because one of the things we love most about how this series was developed is the fact that the basic binder covers the nine feet most commonly included as standard feet with the majority of models. You can then choose to add up to four additional supplements based on the type of sewing in which you’re most interested.

Originally released as part of the exclusive Sew4Home Maker’s Club, this popular pattern is now available for purchase by all our Sew4Home fans and followers.
The new AcuFeed™ Flex Professional Grade Foot (HP2) and its matching Professional Grade Needle Plate from Janome have been gaining quite a reputation for their precision stitching. Follow along to see how we put this specialty set through its paces, testing it on a challenging quilting sample (Drunkard’s Path) as well as a compact barrel tote.
Originally released as part of the Sew4Home Maker’s Club, this popular pattern is now available exclusively in our Etsy Shop. It’s a marvelous quilted mat that helps cushion the work surface for your machine and keeps your favorite notions and tools handy… and it does it all while looking cute as the proverbial button!
One of the most common requests we receive is for help selecting the best thread for a project. The types from which you can choose can seem almost endless when you’re staring at the hundreds of pretty spools at your favorite retailer. We turned to our friends, Ellen March and Pamela Cox from Sulky America for some expert advice – particularly about cotton thread options. Read on for their insights and information as well as to find out which myths they’re bustin’.
There you stand in the fabric store, staring at that giant display of bias tapes and bindings in front of you, the shiny cellophane packages glinting in their neat, color coordinated rows. Single fold, double fold, blanket, quilt. Geeze! What's what? Do you just throw a dart and hope for the best? No! You study your Sew4Home Sizing ID Chart and get exactly what you really need.
A skosh, a wee bit, just a hair... sometimes, the distances we want to work with when sewing aren't quite as precise as the engraved inch and millimeter markings on our machines. Wouldn't it be great if there was a foot you could manually adjust to perfectly align with the exact distance you wanted? There is! The Janome Sliding Guide Foot has a perfectly balanced outboard guide you can smoothly slide to the right then lock into place, from ⅜" to 1⅛" from the center needle drop (10mm - 30mm). I love it when someone answers my "wouldn't-it-be-great" requests!
