Zip open wide and drop your stuff inside! This versatile case can hold toiletries and more. Quilted layers give it a flexible finish so the sides can softly expand to fit items of all shapes and sizes. If you’ve always been a little intimidated by three-dimensional sewing, we encourage you to give this little case a try. It’s surprisingly straightforward, and we’ve included lots of helpful tips along the way.
The Christmas in July planning continues with a a green alternative to paper gift wrap. We all know good things don't always come in small packages. They can be small, medium or large... and still be quite wonderful. That's why we made our super cute gift bags in three sizes. It also allows you to sort out your holiday list into those who've been Good, Very Good, and Great. Our elegant gift bags are a great way to use up your larger fabric scraps. The exterior and lining of each bag are both made up of two fabrics, which gives them a beautiful finish inside and out.
Our big beach bag is all cotton so it breathes well and dries in a snap, but it's not completely waterproof and so isn't designed to take a dip in the salty surf. Its job is to keep you looking good on your way to the water's edge. We're on board with that! We used a beautiful cotton/linen blend canvas paired with natural cotton canvas duck. It's a super stylish combo for an on-the-go beach tote. Rope handles add a nautical touch and make it easy to open wide so you can load up plenty of towels and other important beach gear. Don't forget the sunscreen.
Big bags and totes are great for big jobs, but sometimes when you're out and about, a compact purse is what you need. Something to sling it over your shoulder with enough room to hold the necessities, plus just a little extra. If things are too big and bulky, you can spend the entire outing looking for somewhere to stash your bag. Or... worse, knock over something breakable in the store! Today's cute little fold-over bag is a perfect size and shape. Standing up straight, it's a generous 9" x 9"; folded down, it becomes just 6" x 9". The bottom of the bag is layered with batting and lightly quilted to give the lightweight cotton more substance and stability.
A classic zippered clutch is great for all types of situations. How you blend your fabrics, notions, and embellishments is what defines the finished style – from everyday casual to evening elegance. We're working in elegance category for this project, showing you how to combine two boldly graphic exterior fabrics with the rich texture of silk dupioni for the lining and the unique rolled rose that adorns the front. We topped it off with a great chunky, gold metallic zipper for a bit of bling.
I can see right through you! Did you know that many venues no longer allow closed totes and bags to be brought in? If you want to carry in a larger bag, they require it to be see-through. We have come to the rescue for your summer events and festivals with this fashionable and functional Clear View Vinyl Tote. It’s fully finished inside and out with a removable pocket and base insert that allow the tote to be either semi or completely transparent. There’s also a detachable shoulder/crossbody strap.
A tropical print exterior and natural rope handles give this small box tote its beachy beauty. Perfect for sunny day outings and easy enough to make in a single summer afternoon. It finishes at just 12” x 9” x 5” – not too big, not too tiny, just right to carry over the shoulder, over the arm, or by hand.
The pencil. Do you think it has nightmares about being chased by digital keyboards? There are so many convenient electronic ways to jot a quick note, send a message, or write down your innermost thoughts. But I still love my pencils. And, recent studies have shown the act of handwriting, instead of typing on a keyboard, is actually better for your brain. It activates a unique neural circuit, which makes learning easier. So, if you needed an excuse other than “extreme cuteness” to give our Triangle Pencil Case a try, you can now put it down as a brain booster.
I think we can all agree little things tend to be pretty dang cute: babies, puppies, kittens, Barbie® shoes... but let's face it, sometimes you need BIG to take care of business. This fun storage bin lives up to its jumbo name. It's a large-and-in-charge fabric basket that's ready to take on your bigger storage tasks. From books to blankets to balls of yarn, if you have a lot to keep track of, this project is for you. We chose two bold fabrics: the exterior is a mid-weight canvas, the interior a standard quilting weight cotton. And what is that dynamite looking "rope" ringing the top and creating the handles? Piping cord! Inexpensive yet just the right soft and strong combo.
The classic rolled clutch is a summertime favorite: lightweight, lovely, and just the right size. Often seen in woven straw, we created a version you can make yourself in fabric. Three flat panels cleverly wrap around and come together to produce the three dimensional roll. We used the Janome Horizon Quilt Maker Memory Craft 15000 for both construction and embroidery. It’s great to have one machine that can do both!
