The Colorful World of Hawthorne Threads' Digitally Printed Fabrics

Monday, 13 July 2015 1:00

Since early this year, we've been having fun playing with several of the exclusive new fabric collections from Hawthorne Threads. Owners, Charlie and Lindsay Prezzano took the leap into the fabric design waters with both feet... that would be four feet with a running start. The motifs themselves have been lovely, and to top it off, they print their fabrics on-site using the latest digital technology. The process is very precise and the resulting cotton prints have sharp lines and vivid colors. And speaking of colors... today we're using the Hawthorne Threads online experience to show you a bit of what happens behind the scenes when we build a Sew4Home project. The Hawthorne Threads site navigation, and the way they've structured their integrated color palettes, is well-thought-out, user friendly, and built with creativity in mind.

Sofa Arm 5-Pocket Caddy: Hawthorne Threads

Monday, 29 June 2015 1:00

Handy. Who doesn't want or need things to be handy? Have you ever heard anyone say, "No thanks, I'd prefer everything be just out of reach" ?! There are so many devices these days for our entertainment, it can be a challenge to keep them all corralled. It's hard to relax if you spend all your time popping up and down to fetch a remote, phone, tablet or book. This sofa arm caddy is designed to hold the items you need close at hand. Use the caddy's five pockets to organize what you want and keep it all where you want. Thanks to the beautiful fabric by Hawthorne Threads, our caddy is both functional and fabulous!

Curved Hexagonal Pillow with Elegant Tassels: Hawthorne Threads

Thursday, 07 May 2015 1:00

Things that are six sided: snow crystals, the cells of a honeycomb, the Tam Tam (a six-sided matzo cracker) and this delightful star-shaped pillow. Completely proving 1) not all pillows need to be square, and 2) you'll need to get a magnifying glass or microscope to make sure I'm telling the truth about the snow crystals and honeycombs. Our thanks to Hawthorne Threads for helping us find a great pair of new fabrics to produce a fresh, spring-into-summer look.

Lightweight, Designer Backpack: Hawthorne Threads

Monday, 23 February 2015 1:00

We have been looking forward to working with the digitally printed fabric from Hawthorne Threads for months! If you missed our interview with them, take a look to learn more about their very cool, in-house digital process. Now with six collections to choose from (Norwegian Wood just debuted), the hardest part was deciding which would be the one for our project. We finally settled on Marsala – not only a beautiful collection of prints, but in the Pantone color of the year! Our backpack has classic carryall styling: from the padded, adjustable straps to the fold-over flap with a magnetic clasp to the fully-finished front zippered pocket. A great backpack in beautiful fabric: fashion meets function.

Hawthorne Threads Introduces Their Own Fabric Collections Printed at Their Own Location

Thursday, 29 January 2015 1:00

Located in upstate New York, Hawthorne Threads has become a favorite online destination for quilters, sewers, and anybody else who's crazy about high quality fabrics. We're excited to have Hawthorne Threads as a new Sew4Home sponsor. Of course they offer a wide variety, but what keeps customers coming back is Hawthorne Threads' knack for carrying the fabric that makes you want to say, "I have to sew with that."  Recent big news is the release of their very own fabric collections: Bengal, Calliope and Fair Isle. A fourth collection, Etched will be arriving soon. For those of us who enjoy their taste in fabric design, these new collections embody everything we've come to love about Hawthorne Threads. Even more amazing, they print these fabrics on-site using the latest digital technology.
