Turquoise was selected as the trendsetting color of 2010 by Pantone, the worldwide authority on color for the design industries. It is the 'it' color for fashion and home décor this year. For our Turquoise 2010 series, we have a dozen projects planned using fabric so lovely you'll feel like you're on a mini vacation while you sew. Don't even ask how much turquoise fabric I bought for my personal stash while researching this article.

Turquoise Plus

Image

Turquoise is described by Pantone as a 'hue from the blue-green family that evokes feelings of calm ocean waters and tranquil beach vacations.' It's a happy, uplifting color that pairs well with many other colors. Turquoise plus pink has the retro feel of the 1950s. Turquoise plus navy blue has a crisp summer feel. Turquoise plus a chocolaty brown exudes elegance, and turquoise plus gray is serene. Mix turquoise with yellow, red or orange to get a tropical feel and turquoise plus green is like a spring garden. Turquoise and black is dramatic, while turquoise and off-white or white is pristine – perfect for a wedding or a nursery.

Fabulous Turquoise Fabrics

It's the fabric, it's the fabric... that's our mantra at S4H. When you find a fabric you love, buy it. Like fashionable apparel, popular fabrics sell out and are eventually discontinued to make room for new fabrics. At some point, even the most gorgeous fabrics are no longer in stores. If you're taken with any of the fabrics in our intro image, check one of our advertisers or your favorite fabric source for availability. These are all quality fabrics from quality fabric companies – they simply will not disappoint.
