Country Lane

I truly LOVE the purple colorway of Country Lane, Bari J's charming new collection for Windham Fabrics. For some reason, I don't normally gravitate towards purple, but the Purple Prairie Plaid and Purple Wild Roses sold me many times over. In addition to the purple colorway, the collection includes blue, red, yellow, pink and cream, and they blend together in such a neighborly way – making quilting with this collection a dream. It's a sweet collection that will add modern country charm to any home décor... and of course, apparel and aprons and so much more. Bliss

Bliss from mother/daughter team Bonnie & Camille for Moda Fabrics is a large, vintage-modern collection of beautifully coordinating prints and colorways. In addition to quilting weight cottons, they have Bliss Flannel - the cheeriest flannel ever. Bliss is also available in the full array of pre-cuts: fat quarter bundle, jelly roll, layer cake, and charm pack. A tidal wave of ideas overcame me as I looked through the collection: flirty aprons, sweet little dresses for sweet little girls, kitchen linens, bed linens, anything nursery, and oh what a huge potential for a holiday sewing – stockings, table toppers, a festive throw. I'm thinking of making a cheater's quilt from the printed Blissful Multi pattern.The full collections is expected in mid September, but we found pre-cuts at Fat Quarter Shop.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

You had me at the name. If you've never read Truman Capote's novella or watched the delightful Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in the 1961 movie adaptation, you have a treat awaiting. Breakfast at Tiffany's by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda is equally delightful (I'm mentally designing cute dresses from this collection for Audrey as I type). How luxurious to wake up with bed linens in Breakfast at Tiffany's, pop on a pretty robe of roses and pink polka dots, and sit down to breakfast at a table draped in buttery flowered prints. Finding Fabric

If you see a particular fabric online that you like, you can check your favorite fabric source to find out if they have it in stock or can get it for you. You can also try Googling the fabric name along with the designer's name or the design house, for example: "Bliss" and "Moda Fabrics." Prints from older collections can sometimes be found on Etsy or eBay. If you love a fabric, get it while you can. Because like fashionable apparel, popular fabrics come and go; at some point even the most amazing fabrics are no longer in stores or online.

In fact, the internet is filled with pictures of great clothing made from the latest and greatest cottons from these and other designers. Many designers also produce the same or similar designs in slightly heavier weights and several are also now coming out with complimentary knit fabrics. Because our site focuses mostly on home decor rather than garment sewing, we don't often go searching for specific garment fabrics, however, our aprons have been so popular, perhaps we'll expand more in that direction in the future. So... feel free to make something beautiful to wear from any of these designs . Thanks again!
