Bright humming birds zip across fields of dandelions and daisies. Busy bees and beautiful blossoms dance and drift through fields of lime, raspberry, turquoise, ebony and more. From our very first glimpse of Patty Young's amazing Flora & Fauna collection, we were head-over-heels in love. The fabric captures a sunny day in a beautiful meadow and brings it inside to enjoy year ‘round. We knew the collection would make the brightest, happiest kitchen ever. We've whipped up ten tutorials you can use to remake your own kitchen with a spirited slice of style.
We used 15 different fabrics from within the collection, which may seem like a lot, until you realize we really wanted to use them ALL. These are take-no-prisoners, joy-to-the-world colors and patterns. Be prepared to smile! Our Fabulous Fabric: Patty Young's Flora & Fauna from Michael MillerPatty Young, a favorite of ours here at Sew4Home, has swirled together an amazing potpourri of color and pattern. Natural elements of birds and bees and blossoms mix with funky seventies daisies and whimsical polka dots. Flora & Fauna is made up of four colorways: Mustard, Turquoise, Raspberry and Stone. We crossed coloways and selected elements from both Raspberry and Stone. Because the entire collection is coordinated, it's easy and fun to mix and match. Everything works together wonderfully, so you're sure to find a blend that matches your home décor. Nature Brights Kitchen TutorialsEveryday Reversible Placemats A unique wedge shape makes these mats perfect for a round table. One side is sunrise, the other sunset with a contrasting binding to bring it all together. Flip them over to match your mood. Mix & Match Napkins So bright and beautiful, you won't be able to keep them on your lap. Why not let each family member pick his or her favorite fabric? The more variety, the better. No-Slip Chair Cushions with Boxed Corners These clever cushions are full of surprises: easy strips of piping, perfect boxed corners made without a gusset, and grippy strips on the bottom to keep your bottom from sliding. Plastic Bag Keeper/Dispenser A very stylish way to hide all those plastic grocery bags, but still keep them handy when you need them. Pop them in the top; pull them out the bottom. Hangs on a door knob or inside a cabinet. Triple Border Dish Towels Start with a store-bought white cotton towel and add one, two, three stripes of color. Two narrow bands highlight a center swath of patterned fabric. An easy touch that adds some zing. Insulated Shopping Tote Re-useable grocery bags are a great way to go green. We've kicked it up a notch by lining ours with thermal fabric and securing the top with Velcro. Use to keep things cold or hot on the go. Quilted Hot Pads You can never have too many potholders, especially ones as colorful as these. We used thermal fabric in between and quilted all the layers together for a hot-hot-hot look. Daisy Dot Apron You'll be so stylish when you make breakfast wearing this enchanting apron. Featuring a flattering scoop neckline, bright daisies on the bib and a polka dot, daisy-bordered skirt. You won't want to take it off. Cool & Cozy Pet Bed Don't forget your four-legged friends; they like to hang out in the kitchen too! Our reversible pet cushion features cool cotton on one side and and cozy fleece on the other. It zips off to toss in the wash. Tab-Top Panel Curtains with Button Accents There's nothing like a new set of curtains to warm up and wake up a room. Our two-tone panels feature a dramatic horizontal accent and matching hang-tabs with bright silver buttons. For More Information on Flora & Fauna
