Pretty curtains softly billowing in the breeze of an open window are a sure sign of summer. You can almost smell the honeysuckle, can't you? Our guest room curtain panels are made from two simple width-of-fabric cuts with a flange accenting their seam. Long, loopy tie-backs let you pull your curtains off to the side or cinch them in the middle with a generous bow as we did. We also show you a fast and easy way to handle the lining.

Curtain panels are a perfect beginner project. They're fast, super simple, and you get a great sense of satisfaction when you hang them up and instantly transform your window from plain and boring to pretty and bright. Our Retro Fun curtains combine two great vintage fabrics from Barbara Jones' Simply Sweet collection plus the ultimate retro touch: red gingham bows. Gingham and polka dots and pretty flowers... it's such a happy combination, I feel like breaking into a few stanzas of Perry Como's 1951 classic Zing Zing Zoom Zoom . Who wants to sing along??

To be perfectly honest, I hate to cover up my windows. Staring out into the world is one of my favorite pastimes. But, I also realize you need a little privacy and some protection from the sun; plus, the softness of curtains and drapes adds a distinct coziness to a room. For our Nature Brights Kitchen, we chose a design that captures the freshness of a spring day and sweeps it into the room. In true Sew4Home fashion, our tab-top curtains are easy to make. Clever seaming gives you fully lined, finished panels with no visible stitching on the sides.

Curtains with a matching valance are the perfect start ... or finish to any room decor. As the Big Lebowski would say, 'They really tie the room together.' The valance is also a great way to add a dramatic dash of color or pattern in your room decor, and because the valance is narrow, you can accomplish this without making the room look too busy.

Valance rhymes with balance, and that's a good way to think about this home decor staple. A valance is the mini curtain that covers just the top portion of a window. It provides sophisticated balance against your window frame and a finishing touch to the window treatment below - shades, blinds or drapes. Better still, it hides any window hardware. To make the most of an awesome view and to let through more natural light, some folks opt for only a valance and skip any window coverings below.

Drapery panels are one of the most dramatic window treatment options, especially when created with high quality decorator fabrics. The fabric has the weight to hang perfectly on a large window, and the choice of colors, designs and textures is unlimited.

Although we show it mounted on a decorative curtain rod, a roll up shade is perfect for a dorm room or apartment windows because is works just as well on a tension rod, which means no brackets to install on those walls that don't belong to you!

A Roman Shade is a truly classic window covering. If it was good enough for the Romans, it will certainly look great in your home.

The cool thing about tier curtains is they are super easy to make and can be used on virtually any window that will fit a standard tension rod.

These shades are so easy. Ours were created for a girl's room or nursery, but don't let that stop you. Change up the base fabric and the contrasting ribbon fabric and you can create a totally different look for any room in your house. Try a silk dupioni with a linen ribbon tie for the master bedroom, a crisp cotton strip with polka dot ties in the kitchen, or a soft-washed denim with faux leather accents for the family room.
